Let’s talk about how to actually execute the process of making money online consistently so that you can create a new income stream and start bringing in an honest income.

$5000 a month may seem like a lot, however, it isn’t when you break it down the products/services with their cost and sales needed to achieve your goal.

$5000 can be made in the following ways:

  • 2 products or services sold for $2500 each
  • 5 products or services sold for $1000 each
  • 10 products or services sold for $500 each
  • 20 products or services sold for $250 each

Map out your sales funnel

You must have a sales funnel even if you hate them or don’t know what they are and why you should care.

Think of a sales funnel as taking your audience on a date. You start off with the first date where you feel each other out and then after that decide if you want to take it further afterwards. You’re essentially dating your audience until you get married which is akin to them purchasing your main product.

There are marketers who believe in feeding their audience breadcrumbs which are often just tiny solutions leading you towards the complete the solution. You’re essentially being taken on a journey which often begins with a free offer or product in exchange for your email address.

This is so that they can keep in touch and continue the sales process by offering your more freebies and then paid products. Once you start buying the paid products then you go further into the sales funnel towards the complete solution of the problem.

Then we have the marketers who typically go straight for the sale after a webinar. You’ve probably seen a webinar offer via Facebook ads, signed up, attended and then pitched a product by the end of the webinar. This model tends to be for products on the higher end. I’ve seen offers like this for products that cost $500 and up.

There’s nothing wrong with either model, however, you just have to know your audience and have confidence in what you’re selling.

Your first step is creating a freebie or lead magnet to gain the interest of your intended audience while solving part of their problem. This can be a webinar, PDF guide, checklist or workbook. The important thing to remember is that they must solve a small part of the problem for your audience at this stage.

I like Canva.com or PicMonkey to create the lead magnet. But I’ve also used Google Docs and Microsoft Word to create these lead magnets as well.

Then you will need a landing page to host your offer. Leadpages and Ontrapages are two popular solutions for this as they offer several templates depending on how you want to lay out your lead magnet.

Create a digital product.

This product will be one step up from your lead magnet and solve an even larger part of the problem.

For example, if I am teaching women how to become a paid speaker my lead magnet might be a template that helps them outline their speech. The next step may be a webinar on how to captivate the audience and get them to sign up for whatever product they are selling at the event.

Create a landing page for your digital product where you’ll detail the value you’ll be giving to your audience with your freebie.

For example, your homepage can serve as a landing page for your masterclass. Once the reader submits their email address then they are given access to the masterclass. The landing page should detail the value you’re giving based on the problem your reader seeks to solve. In my work as a psychotherapist, I work with women around money and the men in their lives so my masterclasses address their pain points in these areas.

Also, consider that you may not need a landing page to host your free offer. This can also be achieved through an email submission form on a home page or within a blog post.

Setup your Facebook ads to run through to the landing page with the freebie. Once they get the freebie then on the thank you page make that the sales page for your masterclass.

If they don’t buy there then retarget them with Facebook ads and send them emails with another solution in the form of a freebie for the same problem and sell them the masterclass in the emails. Retargeting ads are the ones you see while on Facebook or another website of a product or service you’ve connected with in the past but did not complete the sale.

The idea is that the more you see the service or product, the more acquainted you become and eventually check it out with the hopes that you will purchase it.

Sign up with a payment processor

Many online sellers use Paypal but there are newer kids on the block such as Stripe and Square. This is a pretty simple process but keep in mind that you will need to spend some time making sure that you give your audience a way to purchase your product on your site or via linking to one of the above-mentioned services.

This is by no means meant to be a complete resource, however, it does sketch out the essentials behind the blueprint needed to get started. Among other considerations, you will need a content management system (website) to host your products such as WordPress, a landing page creator such as Leadpages, and a tool like Active Campaign for your email marketing. Get the creative juices flowing and start adding another stream of income to your bank account.
